Updated: Jun 29, 2024

With 3 months of the season in the books, we're starting to get a good idea of who's ready to make their MLB debut (especially for teams in need of energy, power, youth, desire or simply in need of arms). So here we go, in order of readiness, our top 20...

  1. James Wood OF WAS (225 AAA PAs in 2024, .346 Avg, 1.036 OPS, .232 ISO, 4.9 Spd, .453 wOBA, 168 wRC+) [update: James Wood is in fact being promoted on July 1, 2024. Congrats James. And congrats to those that stashed him in redraft leagues, as he was long gone in dynasty and keepers]

  2. Coby Mayo 3B BAL (228 AAA PAs in 2024, .314 Avg, 1.034 OPS, .338 ISO, 5.0 Spd, .436 wOBA, 158 wRC+)

  3. Shay Whitcomb SS/3B/2B HOU (314 AAA PAs in 2024, .320 Avg, .986 OPS, .268 ISO, 6.7 Spd, .421 wOBA, 139 wRC+ which is tops among AAA players with 300+ PA) [As an important aside here, the other 3 AAA players with 200+ min PAs and a wOBA better than or equal to these 3 guys above are already in the majors: Spencer Horwitz, Daniel Schneemann and Heston Kjerstad]

  4. Tink Hence SP STL (54.2 IP at AA, 12.02 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, .66 HR/9, 3.29 ERA, 2.72 FIP -- K rate is 25th best in the minors, 50+IP min but 9th best for pitchers at AA or AAA)

  5. Ryan Ward 1B/OF LAD (20 HRs, good for 2nd in AAA, .282 Avg, .989 OPS (5th best in AAA), .370 ISO which is tops in AAA, 6.4 Spd, .404 wOBA, 129 wRC+)

  6. Adrian Del Castillo C AZ (315 PAs AAA, low 17.1% K rate, .321 Avg, .990 OPS, .420 wOBA, 139 wRC+ -- tied for best for AAA players with 300+ PAs)

  7. Andre Lipcius 2B LAD (326 AAA PAs, .305 Avg, .939 OPS, .260 ISO, 5.0 Spd, .402 wOBA, 128 wRC+) [Note, this would only be Andre's season debut as he was previously called up by DET for 35 ABs in 2023]

8. Braxton Ashcraft SP PIT (69 IP across AA/AAA, 9.52 K/9, 1.57 BB/9, .78 HR/9, 3.00 ERA, 3.06 FIP)

9. Brooks Lee SS/3B MIN (Just 123 PAs in 2024, but enough to give us the ready signal: .373 Avg, 1.039 OPS, .227 ISO, 4.4 Spd, .461 wOBA)

10. Carson Williams SS TB (255 AA PAs, .281 Avg, .893 OPS, .240 ISO, 8.5 Spd, .405 wOBA good for 3rd best among AA players with 200+ PAs, 161 wRC+ good for 2nd best)

11. Colby Thomas OF OAK (261 AAA PAs, low 18% K rate, .286 ISO which was best in AA, min 200 PAs, 7.0 Spd, .404 wOBA, 147 wRC+, but struggling a bit in AAA)

12. Zebby Matthews SP MIN (46.1 IP at AA, 10.30 K/9, .78 BB/9, .39 HR/9, 1.75 ERA and 2.05 FIP: The overall FIP of 1.91 (across A+ and AA) is #1 in the minors for pitchers over 60 IP -- Zebby has 69)

13. Robinson Pina SP PHIL (61.2 AA IP, 10.22 K/9, 1.17 BB/9, .73 HR/9, 3.50 ERA, 2.84 FIP)

14. Deyvison De Los Santos 1B/3B (299 PAs across AA/AAA, .343 Avg, 1.059 OPS, .321 ISO, 3.6 Spd, .456 wOBA, 172 wRC+)

15. Ian Seymour SP TB (77.2 IP at AA, 9.97 K/9, 1.97 BB/9, .46 HR/9 1.97 ERA, 2.84 FIP)

16. Zach Messinger SP NYY (80 IP at AA, 10.13 K/9, 2.81 BB/9, .68 HR/9, 3.60 ERA, 3.32 FIP

17. Brad Lord SP WAS (79.2 IP across A+/AA/AAA 9.26 K/9, 3.28 BB/9, .45 HR/9, 1.47 ERA, 3.28 FIP

18. Emmanuel Rodriguez OF MIN (The new EROD would make this list here if not on the IL in AA)

19. Hao-Yu Lee 2B DET (282 PAs, .301 Avg, .900 OPS, .224 ISO, 7.7 Spd, .399 wOBA, 149 wRC+)

20. Andres Chaparro 1B/3B AZ (where does AZ put all these guys? 320 PAs, 14 HRs, 19.7% K rate, .304 Avg, .400 wOBA, 126 wRC+)

And 2 players ready to be recalled:

Parker Meadows OF DET (190 PAs, .294 Avg, .906 OPS, .227 ISO, 7.7 Spd, .394 wOBA, 131 wRC+)

James Outman OF LAD (153 PAs, .286 Avg, .923 OS, .238 ISO, 7.3 Spd, .401 wOBA, 127 wRC+) (though LAD has a logjam with 2 other players on this list above)
